In addition to providing municipal law enforcement services for Rolla, the Rolla Police Department is also home to the County-wide Central Communications & Dispatch Center, a joint effort between the City of Rolla, Phelps County, and 15 other law enforcement and/or emergency response agencies around Phelps County. Central Communications is located at the Rolla Police Department, and is operated and staffed by RPD.

Since July 1, 1994, Central Communications has received and dispatched calls for the entire Phelps County area. This was the result of a county-wide E-911 merger which brought Central Communications into effect. It began on a 6-month trial basis and was permanently implemented at the end of that period. Currently, Central Communications handles calls for fourteen (14) primary/member agencies; however, it is not uncommon for calls to be dispatched for other agencies in the Phelps County area.
