The Rolla Police Department is hosting a free six-week Citizens Police Academy beginning in April 2024. This program is designed for citizens wanting to learn more about the Rolla Police Department and the various aspects of law enforcement operations. Graduates of the Citizens Police Academy are better equipped to understand the complexities of the day-to-day operations of the Police Departments and to share their knowledge of law enforcement practices and policies with others. Some of the topics for the course include:

The Citizens Police Academy will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Rolla Police Department. The course will begin on April 2, 2024, and end on May 7, 2024.

The Citizens Police Academy is an excellent opportunity for citizens to interact with several Police Department employees and to get to know those responsible for protecting and serving the community. Additionally, citizens will become more familiar with the procedures, guidelines, policies, and laws that guide decision-making and become better informed about the role of the police in general.

Applicants for the Rolla Police Department Citizens Police Academy must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and pass a background check. The Rolla Police Department reserves the right to deny entry to the Citizens Police Academy based on the findings of a background check.

Applications are available for download or at the Rolla Police Department, 1007 North Elm Street, Rolla, Missouri. The application deadline is March 11, 2024, to allow enough time for background checks.
