PAY GRADE/SALARY RANGE (Full-time, non-exempt):
Police Cadet: Grade P1 $17.720/Hr
Patrol Officer: Grade P4 $21.583 to $22.898
Annual Estimate $50,253 to $53,240 (includes holiday pay & shift differential)
FLSA: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

DESCRIPTION OF BASIC DUTIES:
Patrol Officers will be community policing oriented and required to perform a variety of duties such as enforce city and state violations, investigate criminal activities, routine patrol duties, traffic control and traffic accident investigation, assist citizens, perform communications duties, enforce animal violations, operate an emergency vehicle in a safe and defensive manner, meet physical aspects of job, and perform other duties as job requires.
Police Cadets (Sponsored by RPD) – Those hired into this position will attend a part-time police academy in Rolla, Missouri. Upon completion of the hiring process, the Cadet will work at least 20 hours per week at the Rolla Police Department, and the other 20 hours will be at the police academy for training. During academy training breaks, the cadet will work the required number of hours at the Rolla Police Department to equal 40 hours. The hours at the Rolla Police Department will include additional training, administrative duties, assisting citizens, documenting incidents, and performing other duties as the job requires. A contract will be required in order to benefit from this opportunity.
Police Cadets (General) – This position is for those already attending a full-time police academy and who have completed the RPD hiring process. The Cadet will be employed by the Rolla Police Department while finishing the academy. Upon completion of the departmental field training program, employee will be eligible for reimbursement of up to ½ the out-of-pocket academy tuition, not to exceed $5000. A contract will be required in order to benefit from this opportunity.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent General Education Development Certificate (GED). Must be certified as a law enforcement officer in the state of Missouri, OR currently be enrolled in a law enforcement academy, OR be eligible for licensing (waiver of MO academy requirement) as a peace officer in the state of Missouri by the Department of Public Safety (DPS), as defined in Chapter 590 of RSMo. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Employee is frequently required to sit, walk, talk and hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Full job description available.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
< Must be a US citizen at least 21 years of age and possess a valid Missouri Driver’s License at time of appointment. (Cadets must be 21 years old at the time they take the Missouri Peace Officers Licensing Exam at completion of Academy.)
< Must successfully pass the following hiring process: Peer Board interview, Police Personnel Board interview, Chief's interview, psychological test, polygraph, background investigation, physical fitness test, physical & drug screen, and weapons qualification.
