Rolla Police Department

Chief's Welcome:

The Rolla Police Department is comprised of over 60 men and women who all share the same passion and dedication in ensuring that the City of Rolla continues to be a safe and secure place to live, work and play and the perfect spot to worship and raise your family. The men and women of our Police Department family are committed to the idea of supporting the Three Pillar principles in the community policing philosophy. They are that Employees, Citizens and Departmental Professionalism are equally important to our overall mission.

We are also firm believers in the 95% - 4% - 1% rule in that 95% of the people we serve are good law-abiding citizens. They make mistakes as we all do. They are your mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and friends and they deserve respect! 4% of the people we serve are petty criminals. They steal, break into our cars, damage property, drink too much, use drugs and struggle to live in our community because they have weaknesses. They have potential to become 95%’ers. They also deserve respect! And finally we come to the 1% of the citizens we serve are the true predators of our society! They deal poisons to the 95% and 4%. They rape, murder and burglarize, assault and cause catastrophic destruction upon the good people. They deserve the consequences! We will enforce the laws to the fullest extent upon these people.

Rolla Police Department strives to keep pace with emerging programs and methods that will help us maintain a high quality of life in Rolla. We believe by working in partnership with the community we can create a city where residents and visitors can work, play, and relax in an environment of safety. Crime is a community concern, and in Rolla we have created a public/private partnership through programs such as Volunteers in Police Service, Operation F.R.I.E.N.D, Neighborhood Watch and National Night Out that partner citizens and police toward the common goal of keeping Rolla safe. That partnership is made stronger by using every method we can discover to help our citizens understand how the Department works in Rolla.

We encourage you to explore this Website, and if you are a resident or planning to become a resident of Rolla, I urge you to consider becoming involved in this community. Together, we can continue to work in partnership and make Rolla an even better place to live.

Sincerely,
Mark A. Kearse
Chief of Police
