Greetings from Scott Grahl:
Recognizing the vital role communication plays in local government and communities throughout the country, I'm pleased to be serving as the City of Rolla's Communications Director.
As you may have noticed from the City's homepage, Rolla is blessed with an outstanding educational system that includes Missouri University of Science and Technology, a 650-seat performing arts center, equity theatre (Ozark Actors Theatre), outstanding park system, 12 miles of walking/biking trails, excellent medical and health care, and numerous year-round festivals and activities.
The City's 33 parks, 63,000-square-foot Health and Recreation Complex (The Centre), Ber Juan Park Tennis Complex, 12-mile-long Bike/Pedestrian trai, Rolla National Airport, Rolla Recycling Center, and Downtown Festival Area where the Farmer's Market and bandshell are located, make Rolla a unique community.
By working with Rolla's City Administrator, John Butz; Mayor Bill Jenks, III, the Rolla City Council and Department Directors, I coordinate both internal and external communications for the City. This includes media relations, marketing, the City's newsletters, Weekly E-Updates, community relations, Website content development, blogs, g-mail events listing, the City's Facebook/Twitter page, Rolla Channel 16 Community Calendar and RC16 "City Minutes," public information programs and public relations. A native of the Midwest, I feel at home amid the beauty, peace and culture of the Ozark Highlands, which includes the 1.5-million-acre Mark Twain National Forest, and some of the best river rafting, trout fishing and hiking in the country.
