Greetings:

Rolla is well known throughout the Midwest for it's high quality of life, abundant recreational opportunities, and low cost of living. We are best known for Missouri University of Science and Technology, the 1.5 million-acre Mark Twain National Forest, historic U.S. Route 66, world-class trout streams, two theatres, an outstanding park system, 13 miles of walking/biking trails, excellent medical and health care, and numerous year-round festivals such as Route 66 Summerfest, Celebration of Nations, St. Pat's Parade, Lions Club Carnival, Fall Arts and Crafts Festival and Downtown Days.

The City's 33 parks, 63,000-square-foot Health and Recreation Complex (The Centre), Ber Juan Park Tennis Complex, 13-mile-long Pedestrian/Bike Path, Rolla National Airport, Rolla Recycling Center, and Downtown Festival Area where the Farmer's Market and bandshell are located, make Rolla a unique community. We are outdoor folks, who love the scenic beauty of the Ozark Highlands, culture, history, education, great restaurants and cultural diversity.

By working with Rolla's City Administrator, John Butz; Mayor Bill Jenks, III, the Rolla City Council and Department Directors, the communications coordinator directs both internal and external communications for the City. This includes media relations, marketing, the City's newsletters, Weekly E-Updates, community relations, Website content management, social media, G-mail events listing, the City's blog, Rolla Channel 16 Community Calendar and RC16 "City Minutes," public information programs and public relations. The mission of the Office of Communications: Publicize and promote information regarding the City’s services, facilities, programs and quality of life to citizens, the general public and visitors to the area; coordinate and promote events, festivals and activities that improve economic development (and generate sales tax revenues), and provide educational outreach and public information campaigns that are necessary for the City’s environmental permits and other grants and permits the City maintains.
